Santa Luzia viewing point

Santa Luzia viewing point (1H)

The “Santa Luzia” viewing point is a real oasis of calm from where you have a privileged view of the red roofs of the Alfama area, reaching all the way down to the river Tajo. From left to right, the view takes in the dome of “Santa Engracia”, the “Santo Estevao” church and the two white bell towers of the “Sao Miguel” church.

This is a truly peaceful spot next to the “Santa Luzia” church, from which it gets its name.

Under blooming bougainvillea, the traveller will be grateful of a rest after walking up and down the sloping streets of the district, and is likely to come across groups of local old men playing cards, oblivious to the passing tourists.
